PRIVATE HEALTH & AMBULANCE COVER
BHFNC encourages all members to still obtain Private Health Insurance and to also ensure that you have a current Ambulance Victoria Membership either with your health insurance or purchased individually.
INCOME PROTECTION
There is no cover for loss of income so players are recommended to pursue their own insurance coverage. You can obtain a quote via JLT the AFL National Risk Programme provider by calling 1300 130 373 or contact one of our sponsors to discuss possible options with them.
MAKING A CLAIM
Claims must be lodged as soon as possible (and within 270 days from the injury date).
Complete an online lodgement if:
- You are an insured person or member – player, umpire, official or volunteer (or parent or guardian if claimant is under 18);
- You have sustained an injury – whilst participating in a sanctioned activity/event. ; and
- You have incurred costs – Non-Medicare medical costs. If you have private health cover, you should try and claim through your provider first.
Steps to proceed with claim:
- Complete the claim online here Make a claim | Marsh.
- Following your online claim lodgement, Marsh will email you three separate declarations that need to be completed and signed by your club, your treating physician and/or your employer (not applicable as this only relates to income protection). An authorised club representative will need to authorise the claim.
- The Declarations can be printed and filled in manually or emailed straight to the relevant person for them to print, complete and return to you to forward to Marsh.
- Marsh will confirm receipt of your claim and provide you with a claim number. Any further costs can be submitted to Marsh quoting this claim number
- If you have any questions about this process please contact Marsh on 1300 130 373. MARSH Insurance will help with any questions or queries but if you need any documents signed or further information from BHFNC please email admin@bhfnc.com.au or contact Angie on 0439 998 786.
Important Information:
We recommend you retain copies of all receipts and send them in for Marsh to assess regardless of whether you believe they are claimable or not. Once a claim has been submitted all communication is between the player and JLT Insurance, the club has no involvement.
